On Saturday 6th August, Beautify are visiting the gorgeous Haddon Hall, described as “one of England’s oldest and most romantic houses.” Set in the heart of the beautiful Peak District National Park, parts of the house date from the 12th Century, sitting like a jewel in its Elizabethan terraced gardens, overlooking the River Wye.
Film-makers flock to Haddon Hall to use it as a location. The house and grounds have played host to no less than three versions of Jane Eyre. Screen credits also include Elizabeth, Pride & Prejudice, The Other Boleyn Girl and The Princess Bride, the cult classic movie in which Haddon Hall becomes Prince Humperdinck’s Castle and village.
The cost is £15.50 each and this includes entry to the house, garden and a guided tour. Car parking is £2.50. It is approximately a one and a half hour drive from Leicester and we will be meeting at Haddon Hall car park at 11.45am. Bring a picnic or buy lunch in the lovely restaurant. Get your tickets from the bookshop. Places are limited. See Hannah Johnston or Sara Armstrong for more details.
Beautify is all about getting together as girls and having some fun, developing friendships and glorifying God! Beautify events are relaxed and laid back so they are perfect opportunities to invite some friends and bring them to church without the sometimes overwhelming experience of a Sunday service.
There will be a range of different meetings and events on the second Sunday of every month, at St. John Street.
