Partnership

Come and join us!

At Harvest City Church we love visitors, however we believe you should belong to a local church. Our aim is to build a church which will reach Leicester for Jesus. To do that, we need partners and fellow workers. The Bible says to ‘know those who labour among you’.

All believers should be planted in a local church. If you feel that the Lord has led you to be part of Harvest City Church we invite you to join the Partnership Class.

Acts 2 tells us that believers devoted themselves to the Apostles’ teaching. As a result they caught the heart of scripture and committed themselves to their local church. Partnership Class is an opportunity to learn about our heritage, our values and our practices; the things that have shaped us. You’ll meet our leadership team and get the opportunity to make friends with like-minded believers.

You may not be part of our past, but you will have the privilege of being part of our future. We look forward to getting to know you!

Our Beliefs and Values

The following are clear statements of our fundamental teaching. We are dedicated to maintaining and living out the following principles in our lives, both public and private. These are the guiding principles of Harvest City Church. We hold these values to be true and do not compromise them.

The Harvest Minded Principle

Harvest minded people work together with the leadership of their local church, listening to one voice, moving together in one direction, as one complete body, in which every part does its share, causing growth through relationships and evangelism.

The authority of the Bible: We believe in the plenary-verbal inspiration of the accepted canon of the Scriptures as originally given and that they are infallibly and uniquely authoritative and free from error of any sort in all matters with which they deal, including scientific and historical as well as moral and theological (2 Timothy 3:16; 1 Corinthians 2:13).

God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit: We believe in the Eternal God-head who has revealed Himself as one God existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit; distinguishable but indivisible (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14).

The biblical account of history: We believe completely in the full historicity of the Biblical record of history, including the literal existence of Adam and Eve as the progenitors of all people, the literal fall and resultant divine curse on the creation, the worldwide cataclysmic deluge, and the origin of nations and languages at the tower of Babel (Genesis 1-11).

We believe in the creation, test and fall of man as recorded in Genesis; his total spiritual depravity and inability to attain to divine righteousness (Romans 5:12,18).

Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour: We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Saviour of men, conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, very God and very man (Luke 1:26-35; John 1:18; Isaiah 7:14; 9:6).

We believe Christ died for our sins, was buried, rose again on the third day and personally appeared to His disciples (1 Corinthians 15:1-8; Romans 4:25).

We believe in the bodily ascension of Jesus to heaven, His exaltation and personal, literal and bodily coming again the second time for the Church (John 14:2-3; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).

Salvation by grace through faith: We believe in the salvation of sinners by grace, through repentance and faith in the perfect and sufficient work of the cross of Calvary by which we obtain forgiveness of sins (Ephesians 2:8-9; Hebrews 9:12, 22; Romans 5:11).

Water baptism: We believe in the necessity of water baptism by immersion in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in order to fulfil the command of Christ (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38-39; 19:1-6).

The baptism of the Holy Spirit: We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit as an experience subsequent to salvation and a distinct aspect of the Christian foundational experience (Acts 2:1-4; 8:14-17; 19:6).

The gifts of the Spirit: We believe in the operation of the gifts of the Spirit as listed in 1 Corinthians 12-14 and as seen in the Early Church.

Spirit-filled living: We believe in the Spirit-filled life, a life of separation from the world and perfecting of holiness in the fear of God as an expression of Christian faith (Ephesians 5:18; 2 Corinthians 6:14; 7:1).

Healing: We believe in the healing of the body by Divine Power, or Divine healing in its varied aspects as practiced in the Early Church (Acts 4:30; Romans 8:11; 1 Corinthians 12:9; James 5:14).

Communion: We believe in the Table of the Lord, commonly called Communion or the Lord’s Supper, for believers (1 Corinthians 11:23-32).

Eternal life: We believe in eternal life for believers (John 5:24; 3:16) and eternal punishment for unbelievers (Mark 9:43-48; 2 Thessalonians 1:9; Rev 20:10-15).

We believe in the reality and personality of Satan and eternal judgement of Satan and his angels (Matt 25:41; Revelation 20:10-15).

God’s Word: We believe that the Bible is God’s inspired word, the authoritative and trustworthy rule of faith and practice for all Christians (2 Timothy 3:16).

God’s presence: To enjoy God’s felt-realised presence is our passion as a church. We believe there is a presence of God available to His people as they follow the pattern of worship as seen in the Psalms (Psalm 22:3).

Holy Spirit activity: Both in our personal and corporate lives as believers we welcome the moving of the Holy Spirit. The baptism of the Holy Spirit and the gifts of the Holy Spirit are part of our basic belief system (1 Corinthians 12-14).

Praise and worship: The believer’s response to God’s presence may be seen in energetic worship with clapping, lifting hands and singing spontaneous unrehearsed songs unto the Lord (Ephesians 5:18-19).

Unity: Not conformity but unity of spirit and principle. Unity may express itself in a variety of ways but still maintain the same principles and convictions so as to flow together in accomplishing vision (Psalm 133; John 17; 1 Corinthians 1:10).

Holiness: Holiness is not legalism that is measured by outward look, but a true cleansing of the believer by the power of the Holy Spirit that is evidenced in Christian character and conduct. The fruit is easily born forth.

Prayer: The voice of prayer is heard as we pray out loud together in our pre-service prayer times. This principle of prayer is the powerhouse of our church life. Individual prayer and fasting and prayer for the whole church is a continual emphasis (2 Chronicles 7:14; James 5:16).

Excellence: We believe God deserves the best we have to offer; therefore we seek to maintain a high quality of excellence in everything connected to the work of God (Exodus 31:1-3).

Relationships: To love one another is our goal and we endeavour to make this practical through small groups called Life Groups, where every believer can develop deeper relationships with other believers that result in encouragement and accountability (Acts 2:42).

Integrity: We hold this value in highest esteem and filter all other values through this one. Uprightness, trustworthiness and transparency are our best foundation stones (2 Timothy 2:2; Titus 1:6).

Kingdom culture: We are to be salt and light to our world. The political, the social and the educational penetrated by God’s Spirit and Word.

Family: We express this commitment in our strong emphasis on family in preaching and teaching (Ephesians 5:3; 1 Timothy 3:2).
